Adam Wiedemann joins Dirty Birds Lacrosse as Director of Box Lacrosse, bringing one of the most distinctive résumés in the program’s history to the staff — a three-time college All-American, a first-round NLL Draft pick, and an active professional defenseman for the Georgia Swarm who has spent years giving back to the sport that shaped him.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Adam picked up a lacrosse stick at four years old and never put it down. He went on to compete collegiately at Belmont Abbey College as an attackman, earning All-American honors three times — before transitioning to the professional game as a defenseman and being selected 8th overall in the first round of the 2018 NLL Draft. That rare ability to play, understand, and coach both ends of the floor is one of the qualities that makes him an exceptional teacher of the game at every level.
His coaching career reflects the same standard of excellence. Adam spent two seasons on staff at Lander University, where the program captured back-to-back conference championships, before serving two seasons as Defensive Coordinator at Marietta High School — building direct roots in the community where Dirty Birds does its work. In his role with Dirty Birds, Adam leads the program’s box lacrosse division, bringing professional-level intensity, positioning, and game intelligence directly to the next generation of athletes.
His coaching philosophy is straightforward: grow the game, build confidence, and develop people. Whether he is introducing a younger player to the fundamentals of box lacrosse or pushing an experienced athlete to compete at a higher level, Adam’s approach centers on consistent effort, accountability, and a team-first culture that produces results long after the season ends.
Originally from Ontario, Adam is the proud older brother of two younger sisters. When he is away from the field or the rink, he enjoys fishing, staying in the weight room, and spending time with family and friends. The Dirty Birds family is proud to welcome one of the best in the game to the staff.
